15 Oct Barcelona is mysterious
The first cemetery built outside of Barcelona’s city walls perimeter was the one in Poblenou, which was inaugurated in 1775. Napoleon’s troops destroyed it years later and it started being rebuilt in 1813. There are many famous sculptures in the Poblenou Cemetery, like El Beso de La Muerte, which is attributed to Jaume Barba and was sculpted in 1930. The sculpture is on the tomb of textile entrepreneur Josep Llaudet Soler.
