😲Enriqueta Martí Ripoll (1868-1913) was the protagonist of a dark legend in Barcelona in the beginning of the last century. She was accused of kidnapping, murder and dismemberment of tens of children – due to that she became known as the Vampire of Barcelona.
😢In 1912 a neighbor alerted the police about the presence of an unknown little girl in Enriqueta’s house. The girl, Teresita, had been kidnapped by Enriquetta two weeks earlier. Another girl found along with Teresita told the police that she saw Enriqueta kill a boy that was in the house as well.
🤔Many decades after Enriqueta’s death, research made by authors like Jordi Corominas and Elsa Plaza gave the story different shades. Enriqueta had developed a severe psychiatric disorder after the death of her son and Barcelona’s elite may have taken advantage of her case to hide a much more sinister network of child prostitution and human trafficking.
