16 Dec What I learned last Friday

The “tió de Nadal” is a tradition with rural and pre-Christian origins in Catalonia and Aragon. It originally represents logs you would burn on a fireplace to bring heat and light in the winter months.
According to tradition, you must take a log or a thick branch of a tree, feed it every night and cover it with a blanket so it won’t feel cold. When Christmas Eve comes, the kids at the house must hit it with sticks while they sing, so it can poop gifts and sweets under its blanket on December 24th.
