Today we’ll study definite and indefinite articles.
Definite articles are EL (masculine, singular), LA (feminine, singular), LOS (masculine, plural) and LAS (feminine, plural).
What about the indefinite ones? The indefinite articles are UN (masculine, singular), UNA (feminine, singular), UNOS (masculine, plural) and UNAS (feminine, plural). So when do we use these articles?
We use the DEFINITE ARTICLE when we talk about concrete things and people that we know. For example: el pantalón, la camiseta, los amigos o las profesoras.
We use the INDEFINITE ARTICLE when we want to talk about things or people in general. When we talk about a t-shirt (una camiseta), it can be any t-shirt. For instance: un hombre, una mujer, unos compañeros o unas alumnas.
Remember: these ARTICLES have both the gender and number of the word they go with.
