8 May Back to school: what we know yet

As this beautiful spring sun descends on Barcelona we have some good news to share! We can now go outside for exercise from 6am to 10am and from 8pm to 11pm and this weekend the beaches will open again! Although sunbathing and walking along the sea-shore are banned, you are allowed to do exercise such as running or swimming. In any case remember to keep a safe distance of 2m from others, for this reason it is a good idea to avoid crowds and leave your home early.
In BCNLIP we are already starting to think about returning to classes, because, as we mentioned in last week’s letter, the government has organized a gradual, phase based de-escalation program which provides different re-opening dates according to each economic sector. BCNLIP belongs to the academy sector and as a result the 25th May has been suggested as a potential re-opening date for academies across Spain. In any case some areas may need a little more time to guarantee their citizens a safe return to normal life. This is the case as far as Barcelona is concerned, although the mayoress has assured us that this will be a question of days rather than weeks.
As a result, on behalf of BCNLIP we are reluctant to give a specific re-opening date as we are following the government’s instructions and recommendations. That said, all indications signal that you may be able to return to our classrooms in mid-June as a late estimate. Of course it begs the question, what will those classes be like? Masks, gloves, disinfectant, social distancing, bathroom use, waiting rooms, clothing, shoes… We are adapting the school to guarantee safety for all. Of course, you can appreciate that this is a difficult job which depends greatly on government instructions- guidelines which have not yet been released. We will keep you updated via our weekly letters.
In addition to security measures, in BCNLIP we have come to the conclusion that on-line classes are here to stay, thanks to the efforts of our teachers who are providing an excellent service. And of course, thanks to you, our students, for the opportunity that you have given us. The school will continue on-line courses for all those who wish to continue studying in this manner, which is not only safer but has also proved to be more convenient for many. Don’t worry, all of this depends on your feedback, besides, BCNLIP has always been a school known for its flexibility and we plan to continue offering both options for all courses.
For this reason, in order to adapt the school to these new times and guarantee you the best service and safety, we need to know what you think of our centre and on-line courses via two surveys: one on Google and another on instagram. It is fundamental that you participate in both because, as we have said many times, your feedback is what helps us improve and we are here to provide the best service possible!
Best Wishes, we hope to see you soon!
