⛪ The Hermitage of Sant Medir was one of the five parishes on the city limits of Sant Cugat and it’s located on the valley of Gausac. The first document where it appears as a chapel is from the 13th century. It was built in Romanesque style and it has gone through much renovation.
😇 The existence of the hermitage on this very site is connected to the legend of the martyrdom of Saint Sever – a bishop in Barcelona – and Saint Medir, a local countryman.
🐎 Every 3rd of March people go on a pilgrimage to Sant Medir, a tradition dating back to the year 1828, when a baker from Sant Cugat that lived in Villa de Gràcia promised the saint that, if his health improved, he’d ride a horse to the hermitage every 3rd of March.
👑 This Friday on the cinema workshop with Nenad we’ll talk about the movie “Juana la loca”, based on the story of love and jealousy of Joanna I of Castile and Philip the Handsome.
